Designed to advance the field of Patient Blood Management

The Society for the Advancement of Blood Management (SABM)-Haemonetics Research Starter Grant is intended to advance the field of patient blood management by supporting a young investigator who plans to study methods of promoting blood conservation. This one-year grant provides starter funding to further scientific inquiry and clinical knowledge in the field of patient blood management. Haemonetics is committed to improving the practice of patient blood management and is pleased to continue support for this important initiative.

It is expected that the funded study will generate results that can be used as pilot data or preliminary findings to support future research focused on methods to improve blood management and to promote blood conservation. Areas of research that will be considered include: Process Improvement and Scientific Inquiry. Details will be forthcoming from SABM.

Congratulations to Amy DeZern, MD, MHS from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, the winner of the inaugural 2013 Research Starter Grant Award. The 2014 awardee will be formally recognized at the 2014 SABM Annual Meeting being held September 11-13, 2014 in Houston, TX.
